At Bluewater Cycling Organization, we believe in building an active, healthy, and connected community. Whether it’s on county roads or gravel trails, we all know the joyof a good ride — the fresh air, the scenery, and the camaraderie.
We continue to extend that joy to more members of our community through our CyclingWithout Age (CWA) program, which offers free rides to seniors and individuals with disabilities using specially designed, electric-assisted trishaws.
CWA creates the platform for storytelling, social connections and social stimulation. It has been demonstrated that participants in CWA programs have experienced significantly increased levels of happiness and improved quality of life. While you may initially think this applies to the riders (and it does) it is equally applicable to the volunteer pilots!
The CWA program helps participants:
We deliver rides five days per week during the period between Victoria Day and Thanksgiving. We have partnered with the Strangway Centre, various S&R residences (Landmark Village, Rosewood Village, Village on the St. Clair, Afton Park Place, Twin Lakes Terrace and Village, Trillium Villa, Fairwinds Lodge, Marshall Gowland Manor, Pineview Apartments and Community Living. As new pick-up locations become available, they will be added below.
We are looking to grow our team of 40 pilots to help us offer even more rides to seniors. If you’re able to pedal our electrically assisted trishaw for just a few hours a couple of times a month, you’ll be making a big difference! We’ll provide full training, insurance, a cool jersey, and of course, the immense satisfaction of spreading joy and making someone’s day a little brighter.
If interested in becoming a pilot please email info@bigf.ca

It is a community that fosters civic, economic, and social participation throughout the life course and makes it easy for older people to stay connected to people who are important to them. It is a place where people can stay healthy and active even at the oldest ages and where appropriate supports are available for those who can no longer look after themselves. Age-Friendly Sarnia-Lambton launched in 2015 with the Age-Friendly Action Plan through a grant opportunity offered by the Ministry of Seniors and Accessibility, and has developed and evolved over several more grant opportunities.
